Most people I've met have that have played this played it on an arcade console. It's a really fun game, despite the discription that follows...
So, some gay cowboys (and/or a gay mexican) kill a bunch of other gay cowboys for a large cash reward (which add up to extra lives.) A couple of them use weapons more impressive than a pair of Saiga 12s to complete the job.
Basically, it's a super-violent, extremely fun game with a rediculous color sceme. I suggest you try it, or play it for good ol' times' sake.

Sunset Riders Game

A very interesting option when looking for beat 'em up games, or rather, SHOOT 'em up games, is the wild west style 'Sunset Riders'.

Unlike its Mega Drive/Genesis counterpart, this version of the game shows new stages, and two extra characters - both with the same shot type as both Billy and Cormano. With this, the shotgun-type weapon can be wielded by both players, and belive me, it's great to use it!

The bosses at the end of each pair of stages aren't there to have a party with you either - They can kick your ass as much as you kicked the minion's along the stages!
Also unlike it's Genesis/Mega Drive counterpart, most bosses are different in here, like it is an alternative version of the story. The first one is still the same fat rich guy, though.

To make the game easier, remember to visit the girls in Saloons, and either throw the dynamites that are in the floor, or just avoid them - one shot or just enough time is what it takes to blast away everything near it, including you and your friend, if you're playing in 2P mode, where both characters advance together, much like in metal slug games.

This is a not well known pearl that is certainly worth a try!
